Despite a muddy racetrack and the presence of Avery Island, the 3/5 race favorite, Gronkowski and Jose Ortiz ran off with the $82,500 winner’s share of the purse, beating Firenze Fire by a length. Avery Island finished third by a nose over Engage.
The 4/1 second choice in the betting, Gronkowski paid $10.60 to win.
